I have a question regarding order of tests.

When a unit with leader attached loses a stand to missile fire they have to
check for leader casualties. What if the unit also has to check for morale?
Does the leader casualty test happen before or after morale test? The
difference would be that the unit gets to add the leader's morale factor to the
morale test.

Same goes for melee resolution. If a unit loses a stand in melee do you check
leader casualties before or after melee resolution? The difference would be
that the unit gets to add the leader's combat modifier into the melee
resolution.

A couple questions on melee resolution.

When do you check for outnumber by 50%? Before or after casualties are applied?
Unit A has 6 stands and unit B has 4 stands in the melee unit A loses a stand
while unit B doesn't. Would the modifier for 50% outnumber be applied in this
situation?

When do you check for second rank? Before or after casualties are applied? A
unit has 5 stands (3 up front 2 in the back) which would give them a rank bonus,
but in the ensuing melee they lose a stand and are now down to 1 stand in the
back rank. Would the modifier for second rank apply in this situation?

I think the rules do mention the second rank modifier but in the heat of battle
we couldn't find it.

Is there any detriment to having an impetuous unit fail its impetuous test and
is located behind another friendly unit? Would there be different answers
depending on the unit type? What if the unit up front was not impetuous? What
if it too was impetuous? What if the impetuous unit was mounted and the one up
front was foot?

We have played where the impetuous unit just moves up to the back of the unit in
front and stops. We have also played where if the unit up front is impetuous,
then it too reacts as if it failed a test (even if it already rolled and
passes). I was just trying to apply DBM mechanics, I liked how the units would
burst through and then follow up if they too were impetuous.

Thanks
Chris

Thanks for clearing up the order of tests. That will alleviate some confusion in future games. What is odd is that all these situations occurred in our last...

Yeah that is a very valid point. I was thinking that impetuous units could only pass through if they failed the T&L test at the beginning of the turn. You...
