That doesn’t sound too bad at all.
You would need to look at what the skirmish stand does in the
event of being charged or the parent unit entering a melee.
One minor problem - if a player has 2 hits on a skirmish stand
and then takes one hit on the formed unit and you choose to remove the stand
from the formed unit then you would have to take the 2 ‘hits’ off the
skirmishers - giving them 3 hits again. This might be OK for something like
the Franco-Prussian war where the skirmish line started to effectively became
the main firing line with reserves being fed into it.
I would suggest you must remove the stand that has the majority
of hits on it – in the above example the skirmish stand with 2 hits already would
have to be removed.

Subject: [Crusaderminis] Napoleonic skirmishers
Trying out some "house rules" for
Napoleonic skirmishers as the main rules do not cater for light companies as
such.
Would appreciate any comments or suggestions if anyone else has addressed the
issue in a diferent manner.(Rules re movement, line of site etc as per main
rules).

Napoleonic Skirmishers deployment
One stand can be deployed out from an infantry unit to act as skirmishers.
Deployed stands will be removed and be replaced by single figures. These can be
deployed back into a stand. Skirmishers deployed from units must stay within
one move distance of the parent unit. Skirmishers deployed out will take 3 hits
before being lost. Losses still count toward stand loss in the parent unit. If
losses between a skirmishing stand and the parent unit total three then the
owning player can choose whether to lose the skirmishers or a stand from the
unit. Where losses are only inflicted upon the parent unit or the skirmishers,
then the lost stand must be taken from where the losses occurred. Note some
units can deploy either as formed units or as skirmishers, these units must
fully deploy in one or other role.
Note British riflemen stands can be deployed as independent skirmishers (in
groups of 3), be attached to units as normal skirmishers or be formed into
units themselves.
