Discussion group for fans of "Conquest of the Empire", specifically as published by Milton Bradley in 1984 for their Gamemaster Series, and now re-issued by Eagle Games, but also to acknowledge the preceding VI Caesars by Lawrence Harris - published by Citadel Games in 1982. In brief the game involves expansion, diplomacy, economics and conquest in the Roman Empire. COTE covers fleet movement, road building and a variety of unit types including siege weapons. One favorite topic is rule variants considered necessary for game balance.

Discussions on Roman History in book and on TV is welcome, board and computer gaming with a relationship to "Conquest of the Empire" is also welcome. For example "Axis & Allies" is related to COTE as they were both created by L.Harris and produced by Milton Bradley. Discussing "Monopoly" or "Unreal Tournament" is not related unless there is a Roman variant map/board/scenario. Using COTE pieces on a RISK map is also ok. One member writes fiction on Gladiators in the Empire (c.100AD). His posts are welcome as many of our members like Roman history.
