Hi Francisco
No worries mate, whatever input/ time you have spare is appreciated. I
am quite happy to push along with things, but without other gamers keen
eyes on the proceedings, we may end up with a game thats not quite
right!

Hi Lee
I wasn't aware of the traveller K'Kree race, but the Centaling Aliens
would certainly fit the bill for them. Not sure of the background/
manner/ motivations of the K'Kree either, so they may not fit with
Centaling way of thinking, but the figures would certainly be
excellent, better than the Centulons from Tabletop games in detail
and moulding.
The alien race sections are still being developed, and the 4 galaxy
aliens (including the centalings) are still being worked on, so if
you have any additions to suggest please do!
thanks

Hi, new to the group and I was wondering about the K'kree. Where can I get them...or are they OOP Martian Metals?

Hi and welcome to new members. Please see previous posts etc for game
descriptions and scope. The latest draft rules version has been posted
for comments and suggestions, but Don and I are still working on the
background/ aliens and game mechanics. Playtesting will hopefully start
in the new year.

Good news!

I contacted Paul at Spriggan Games about the Spugs.
They're not attached to any ruleset and he's very
happy for me to write an army list for them under

I have just ordered a copy of Borrowed time, once I have read it I
hope to have a better idea of what you are looking for in regards to
input.
On the subject of input I am not any good at drawing but can take some
photos of my figures over the weekend if I can get the chance if that
would be of any help. I mostly have GZG with some Laserburn and old
Traveller figures, also vehicles from Old Crow and GZG, sadly the
unpainted greatly out number the painted at the moment.

Thanks! thats geat, for the moment could you work on the race history, motives, general troop types and formations etc, vehicle types etc (i.e. without the firm statistics/ points values)  untill i can give you a fairly stable version of the rules, as I dont want you to do loads of work, then have to re- do all the points values or statistics cause we've changed them again!- I've caught myself out on this and its a pain.

The rules are still very much like IC2, so d6 still feature heavily. We wanted a game which plays like IC, but is sufficiently different to allow open development/ expansion without copyright issues.

> Then after I finish with the Orcs I will move on to the TAU.
Sounds good, dont forget not to rip anything from GW, as from past experience they will get very upset, you TAU will need to be called something else of course, and presumably you have sourced a range of figures which could be used?

The background we will be supplying is set over a vast time span, so players can stage battles in a great variety of settings, from Imperial type ages, through the Great Ten Thousand Year War with the Aliens, to the 'Borrowed Time' current era, which is vastly in the future, the universe has only 4 galaxies left, and fantastic battlesuits etc are in use.

Hi Olaf,
A work in progree (WIP) version of the rules will be released ASAP,
but we don't want to put out anything too early in case others start
writing rules based on the WIP ones, only to have to change them later.
I expect something for you guys in a week or so :-)

On your other point, movements (there are 2 move phases per player turn)
Assault Dreadnough battlesuit troops/ road/ = 3inches per phase
Fast Infantry/Road/= 5 inches per phase
Wheeled vehicle/ road/ 12 inches /phase.

Legged walker/ rough ground= 6 inches/ phase

all the best

Hi All,
I would like to help in any way I can!
First thing I would like to suggest is get rid of the Robot weapons! This is not the 80's any more lets up date some of the terminology to fit with the times. How about AWS (automated weapon systems), and MAWS (modular automated weapon systems)?
The AWS would replace the Robot weapons, and the MAWS would replace the Robot weapon pods.

I would like to work on a new race called Orcs. I am thinking of basing them on the Orks from 2ed 40k. There is a guy who makes 15mm Orcs
Also from 15mm.co.uk the Shia Khan line of Goblins.

So to move forward with this project I need to know how to build units in this new rule set.
I see from reading the PDF, and DOC's posted these rule are d10 based! Is that correct?

Then after I finish with the Orcs I will move on to the TAU.

Wes.

Well, the ranges appear pretty similar to "average" 28mm ranges when expressed like that, so I'm not really too fussed. I'd probably use them as is then. What will the average movement be like?

Any chance of a "WIP" cut of the rules being posted so long?

.....................................................................
Hi Olaf
The rules will have all ranges expressed as inches, instead of the
old Imperial Commander cms, so I would just double the ranges. If
there is enough interest i would do a 28mm version of the rules with
all of the ranges changed for 28mm figures, perhaps doubled?? you may
be able to input on this issue.
I would thik the ranges for guns may be a bit far (compared to the
likes of WH40K etc)if they are scaled up for 28mm figuresthough!
For example at the moment the maximum ranges for some weapons are:
Laser pistol 12 inches
P-Beam rifle 55 inches
bolt rifle 30 inches
Sniper rifle 100 inches

and thats 15mm.......................

You may need a massive table to allow for those ranges.
cheers
Neil

As I have no clue on what 15mm is available (I game exclusively in
28mm), I'll pass on that one. The rules have always worked for me
using inches. I'll still be using the rules for 28s, even if you say
"no"...

Hello all
Beamstrike rules progressing, we have a 64 page A4 rulebook
currently, and I would like to ask for suggestions in a couple of
areas:

GUNS In the files section is a PDF of the current guns list. Have a
look and see if it misses out any major sci-fi weapon categories, or
if anything looks amiss.

ALIENS
Have a look in the files section at an example alien race, and if
you can, write a new one, with reference to a currently available
set of 15mm miniatures- (players need suitable models to use an
alien race!)

ARTWORK
Can you draw or paint?, if so , get doodling, sci-fi guns, pictures
of aliens, robots, tanks, troopers etc are welcome. Post them in the
files section.(I have put some original art from me here as a
starter)- note your pictures MUST be original art, not copies from
the net etc, and by posting them you are giving me permission to use
them.

PLEASE NOTE: Where material is accepted, you will be credited with
it in the rules, so please also tell me your full name!

Hello and welcome to new members, just to fill you all in a
little.....The beamstrike rules have been spawned from the new
material (written by Me (Neil Cooper), Don Clarke, Wes Camp, Paul
Gallagher and Francisco LLerandi Grossebohle) that was in Imperial
commander 2, along with some entirely new stuff and reworking of the
game mechanics from IC and some other systems.
It is intended for 15mm figures, large scale battles, with vehicles,
aliens, robots, anything else you can think of! Wes Camps Tank rules
will be in there. Example alien races, robots etc will be matched to
the current ranges of 15mm figures available form several
manufacturers, so there shouldn't be a problem getting minis to 'fit'
the rules. An example background will be given, but any sci- fi
background can be chosen, the rules are thus ' generic'. Enphasis will
be on fast play, but at the same time having rules for most sci-fi
themes.

If anyone is interested in 'helping' at all, once a version is ready
that Don and I are happy with, we will post it and some serious
playtesting will need doing, along with any suggestions/ contributions
of army lists for particular 'verses', new aliens to fit in, scenarios
etc....
bye for now

Hi All,
Just Wes checking in. Not sure what I can do at this point, but I am
here to help in any way I can.
I would like to know what type of game this is going to be! What I
mean by that is will this be more like Laser Burn (small scale game)
or Imperial Commander (large scale game)? I for on am looking for a
large scale game, and I hope that is what you are focusing on with
this game.
So if there is any thing you would like from me just let me know.
Wes.

Francisco from Laserburn group.

I'll give you a hand in whatever you want to. Unfortunately I'm as usual
in too many projects at once. But I'll try.

Cheers,

Francisco

Well, I'm here. I plan to lurk more than anything else, and once the
rules are stable, publicise them through the Mainly28s website.
