Hmmm.

Use a missile. Program it to wait for a ship to enter
its area, assuming its using a passive sensor system
to detect ships nearby, that meets the criteria for
attack. Then roll for an attack assumign its a Green
crew that fired the missile. Simple, requires no new
rules. there are other ways. Make them pay double
for the missile (you need to jam a throw away computer
and program in there, thats the extra cost).

simple.

Dumb mines (no target sensing, discrimination or
ability to move to their target) are a real bad
mistake and have near zero ability to attack their
targets before they are detected and pose a hazard to
civilian and your military traffic near the jump point
or in orbit.

have there ever been official rules for space mines? i've never seen any
but was wondering if they existed, or if the creater of Bspace would share
his thoughts on how best to make them work. :)

thanks again. haha i should have thought of that! :)

ok fellows here's something else.
What are your thoughts on the design of a dedicated ship killer?
I'm looking to design a BB with one role, to destroy others, something that
will eat mckenna or mjolnir alike. The leviathan II will do the job but it
is horridly inefficient. also it tries to do everything, to be a one ship
taskforce.

The idea i'm working on is to simply beef up the mckenna or farragut
designs. any thoughts?

Sorry about that...
Rick is the author of Heavy Metal and he tends to sign up volunteers after
each release to generate the associated design files for each of the
mechs/vehicles or craft included in each book release.

You should be able to contact him via his web site:
http://www.heavymetalpro.com/
and you might well find the files already available for download in his
file center on that site

Hope this helps

HM Aero ROCKS!!!!!
I have used it monthly to run out the sheets for the AeroCompanies involved
in my continuing Battletech campaign

BTW Chris....
Jordan Weisman enjoyed having the Wasp in his lance pushed around Sat night
at GenCon....
Loren also said he was looking forward to joining Jordan next year as his
schedule screwed him out of this year's game. Randall loved watching but
was non-committal which is understandable given everyone's BattleCorp,
FanPro and Wizkids commitments...

Any chance you might be interested in joining us?
I am gonna start planning early so the celeb's get some of what they would
love built into it.
Like an AT 2 Unit on each side doing air to air and air to ground ops..........
With this much time I can make coordinated air and ground ops maps like I
do monthly for my home campaign.

Hit me back at: Commander.Truestar@...

==Overview:==
The Sao Paulo was the main battleship produced by the NCC. She was
a weapon
that Terroized both her main enemies the NTR and the Quebecian
alliance. She
was a weapon centered around one idea: Fear.

==Capabilities:==
Her aersenal of weapons give her the ability to destsroy another
vessel of
equal size and smaller with one or 2 salvos. Her massive Naval PPC
batteries.
When it comes to Anti-fighte r defense she relies on other vessels
and her own
fighters. Her armor isnt the best but its definetly not the worst.
The vessel
usually starts a battle and finishes it.

==Battle History:==
ONe of the last battleships to be destroyed was during what people
today call
the Final battle. The final naval battle took place in 2794. A Sao
paulo was
leading a battlegroup to in a massive last ditech effort to hurt the
NTR. They
attacked New Terra with over 700 warshps including 20 battleships.
The attack
came as a surprise. The battlegroup made it to amost planetary orbit
before
reinforcements could arrive inlcuding hundreds of the battleship
killer
monitor. The massive battle decimated warships on both sides. The
last
battleship tranfered her flag over to a destroyer who was taking the
fleet
command out of the battle. She sacrificed herself taking fire from
the enemey
warships to spare the destroyer who made it to saftey.

==Deployment==
First production was in 2300. From 2300-2700 over 400 were built.
The vessel
was so hated that the NTR created a monitor at 400k whose job was to
be hunt
and destroy the battleship. Becasue of using the cheaper monitor
types for
this today only 1 battleship is battle worrthy. Another 5 are
awaiting
repairs.

Apologies on the delay parsing the last message ... I've been

TR3027(R) should be appearing in shops now - variopus people already
have it from the distributors.

Depends what you mean by "THE Chris Hartford?" The games writer? Yes.

Excellent! i've been eagerly awaiting the farragut. Heard many good
things about her.

I've got to admit i'm also interested in AT2r. I never really liked AT2 as
well as battlespace. Crits were way too easy to get and the warship
critical system is just neater in battlespace!

oh and dude you're THE Chris Hartford?

It's due out imminently, I believe, and should ship in the next week
or so. Fingers crossed, it will start appearing in shops around the
end of the month.

I'm more curious if we get a discount if we turn in our old TRO3057's when
we buy the new one.

I believe that's a completely unrelated book by Ian Douglas that
just happens to share the same name as the game - "BattleSpace" is a
real-world military science term.

The FASA game BattleSpace hasn't been supported directly since being
superceded by the AeroTech 2 game in 2000. There are, however,
several new AT2-related books due out in the coming months: a
revised version of "Technical Readout 3057" (containing a number of
new designs) and the updated and expanded edition of the
rulebook, "AeroTech 2 (Revised)"

he he i seen this post and a cracked a HUGE grin. seams someone was
thinking about what i was. my GM decided to allow me to modifly a
civlen cargo ship for bombing. BUT it was external SRM-10's and SRM-
5's with a few light beam and ammo weapons. had very little armor
points like ten per location i think it was. but the GM let another
played introduce a type of shield unit. it was a power hungry unit,
that was very very picky. TOO much G's and to shut off, to much
vibrations and it went offline, AND too much heat it went offline.
I'll see about trying to get ahold of him to get the stats of the
bomber and shield unit for you all.

On a side note, I'm working on a games BASED on BattleSpace,
BattleTech, Starseige, and a game [made up] that i played in high
school. Once done it will include Land, sea, air planet fights as
with ship to ship fights in many differnt space condentions. this
will be a Table top game, as i have not the knowlage of computer
programing to make it a game in that manner.

Rick Raisley (creator of the HeavyMetal series of programs) released a
version that covers BattleSpace as well as AeroTech 1 & 2 just recently. :)
You'll have to throw around a bit of money, but its got all the most up-to-date
rules. The program you'd be looking into is HeavyMetal Aero.

I would like to know where I can get a decent BattleSpace editor,
unlike the DOS-based one (written by Eric Ramey), which uses (even if
indecent) GUI, and supports more modern rules, and doesn't contain
flaws such as the limiting of doors to be used on a bay, etc. If
anyone could point me to one, or even send me a file, it would be
much appreciated.

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
BattleSpace group:

Are LF batteries worth it?

o No too expensive (rather have 10 ships than one that can jump twice)
o They are good...2 jumps is nice fo 1000x cost.
   o No opinion.

Sounds like a winner. Bombs might be a bit too powerful but game
balance is up to the GM anyway. Don't waste your money on anything
less than 2000 tons unless you do not intend to have them attach to
jumpships.

A dropship fit with nothing but weapons pauload would be a frightening
sight. Worse...if it had a payload full of bombs it could really
carpet bomb an area into the stone age. Anyone made one yet?
