Sounds like a winner. Bombs might be a bit too powerful but game
balance is up to the GM anyway. Don't waste your money on anything
less than 2000 tons unless you do not intend to have them attach to
jumpships.

A dropship fit with nothing but weapons pauload would be a frightening
sight. Worse...if it had a payload full of bombs it could really
carpet bomb an area into the stone age. Anyone made one yet?

I am new to this group.. and fairly new to Battlespace and
Aerotech as well. I was playing a game last week and was using my
Aerospace fighters to strafe some Mechs and infantry.

I was wanting a gunship to circle the battle field and be an on-
station gunship.

SO...the question is.. can you use a small 400-600 ton aerodyne
dropship in this role? I looked all over to find out, but never saw
an answer. Also... can dropships carry bombs? They can easily carry
100,000 lbs of cargo, could that be converted into bombs?

                      Thanks,
                         Dave

Hey Danny,

Work issues always suck. It is too bad you could not show for late sat and
sunday though you would not have gotten into the air events as they ran
friday and sat. Many of the events were very sparsely attended on friday
night as most early conventions will go. Rare Air got no attendees because
of this and its novelty. On the other hand, Leopard Down was well attended
and ran smoothly....this makes me very happy as we now have expanded the
Aerotech 2 player pool. Now they will hopefully go out and teach more
players and grow the game.
As for this coming week, I am headed to Florida tomorrow morning and due
back very late Thursday night. As such, I am not sure what my wife and I
will be doing..if anything..this coming weekend other than recovering. I
will put out the message that you are interested and send your email so
others can contact you directly.

Hope you set something up and I promise to chedck it out once I am back :D

Well, as you've noticed, missed the con.

I drew the short straw, had to work Saturday.

Then had to work late because NJT is being dicks (rebuilding a tunnel, now
they're trying to nickle and dime us, having to go through a lot of shit to
justify various pay items).

When I finally got back to my place at 5, was too worn out to spend twenty+
dollars just for a half day gaming.

Anywho, my whining aside, how did the Aerotech events go?

Also, would you and a few of your boys be interested in btech this Friday,
Saturday, and/or Sunday?

Agreed. The one nice thing about hex maps is the absolute nature of
it. No room for worries about nudged minis, taking extra hex side turns,
etc etc etc.

The downside is that you're limited to 60 degree turns, which I've always
hated.

I've been fortunate that nearly all of my btech groups have been largely
free of people who played mini games "badly." ie, those who don't play
well with others. One reason that I've always disliked cons is that those
guys tend to come out of the woodworks.

Oh, and if you live that close...

I'm free most weekends for btech, if you ever want to do some standup lance
vs lance or company vs. company games.

When: The weekend of Sept 20-22
What: Event: "Leopard Down", A novice level Aerotech 2 gaming event
Who: Team Banzai, Star light Strike Team
      Game Master: Chris Gavigan

Special Notes: The winner will be awarded an Aerotech 2 scale
miniature of a Leopard Class Dropship. This figure will be in the
same scale as Aerotech figures released by Ral Partha in the past.

Description:
defend or atack as a force of four aerolances(one reinforced
aerocompany) races into the sky to prevent the landing of 'The
Hesperous Express', a Leopard Class dropship. But the dropship is not
alone as radar contacts paint its aerocompany of fighter/escorts.

Once in sensor range the foes will know each other's machines...but
who will win?

Full Thrust is from Ground Zero Games in the UK (http://www.gzg.com). No US
distributor at the moment but the ship overseas quickly and the price is still
good.

More information on Full Thrust along with other games and miniatures is

Actually, Rick Raisley is in the process of developing Heavy Metal
Aero, which will allow you to not only design DropShips, JumpShips,
WarShips, Space Stations, Monitors and Fighters but will also create
custom record sheets for AT2 for all of them. Hopefully, the program
will be done within the next couple of months. It's been slow work
but it will be well worth it for everyone interested in AT2 and the
various space faring vessels in the classic BattleTech universe.

They are all in the new rulebook.
It came with the game system(The rulebook.)
Also www.heavymetalpro.com offers heavymetal, a program that can do dropship
and warship creation. And it prints out record sheets. Indispensable.

Hope this is helpful.

Sorry....no Yamato or Kaga class warships will be built
according to the TR 3067. The programs were terminated according to
the TR. Of course, this is a little odd considering that the first
Kaga was supposed to have been completed in 3059. Well, the
BattleTech universe has been known to work in mysterious ways.
WarShips show up in odd places as do BattleMechs, lost colonies and
Great House royalty.

Gunners as well? That, and HNGs can orbitally bombard. Yeah, in a pure
space game, it means nothing, but in a planetary campaign it can really make
a difference : )

Its a typo

Just mount small lasers...

Hi,
I got Aerotech 2 a few weeks ago and I'm working on a design that
will be a "combat transport" with 12 docking rings and a large weapon
array, using SLDF technology with a clan refit once I get things
ironed out. As I'm working on the design, I have the following
questions:
1) Why is the Killer Whale missile so effective, for the same mass as
6 Heavy Naval Gauss cannons (attack value of 180), I can mount 104
Killer Whale missile launchers (attack value of 416), am I missing
something (I am taking into accout the increased mass for the Fire
Control systems and ammo)
2) What is so special about the Mjolnir?
3) Any specific weapons systems and/or equipment systems that I
shouldn't use?
Thanks!

Those of you who haven't done so already may want to check out the
AT2 FAQ at http://www.classicbattletech.com/AT2FAQ.html which should
hopefully answer a number of questions. If you have any further
queries or thoughts, post them here or mail them to
chartford@....

I'd also suggest that those with time check out the forums at
http://www.heavymetalpro.com/ - Rick Raisly is currently in the
planning stages for "HM Aero" and is interested in the opinions of
prospective users.

Regards,

Chris
