Have a look at some of the virtualization options, like VirtualBox from
Sun (http://www.virtualbox.org/) which runs on Windows, MacOSX or Linux
and is opensource. I run it on a Mac (Leopard required) and have Windows
and Linux instances available in a very shoert load time, just like any
application. You can save snapshots and machine states, restarting
rather than rebooting. It's very good for running things like AutoRealm.
