The easiest way to learn how to play is to play with experienced people.
Playing the game as a player character (PC) is much easier than playing as
the dungeon master (DM), because you don't need to remember as many rules.

Unfortunately, you will need to purchase a rule book. The RPGA is a group
that only plays D&D with the latest rules, so you will need a 4th Edition
rule player's handbook (PHB). Then you can join the next game session if you
like. You should probably show up about 20 minutes early so that someone can
create a PC for you.
