On October the 28th (weekend after Armageddon and during exams/study weeks) I am organising a Zombie Walk around Auckland... abit like this one: http://www.torontozombiewalk.com/ and this one: http://www.brisbanezombiewalk.tk/ There are plans for a second one being organised in Chch, and hopefully a few more. Date was picked cause Sam Raimi's Birthday: October 23, John Romero's Birthday: October 28, Peter Jackson's Birthday: October 31 and of course Halloween: October 31. I'm going to see if we can raise some funds or hand out flyers for the Blood Bank, and for organ donation at the same time... and a route of Grafton Cemetary, K Road, Down Queen Street and into the Forced Entertainment Centre with it's Quake-level architectural design as already been suggested. Probably then shamble to a park to finish it off. If you would be keen to dress up as a zombie and shamble along this route... please email me.

PS. Don't forget America's Cup during the weekend of July 15th and 16th, on the Auckland Uni campus. A weekend of roleplaying and larping. There will be 4 sessions of systemless roleplaying over the 2 days, and a new feature this year is the addition of a room full of RPGA games if you want to opt for one of their games during the weekend. More details coming to www.theamericaclub.net.nz website.
Hi all,
Sorry if you get this more than once, I figured this was the best way to
cover alot of ground quickly.
On June the 23rd, a Friday, there is a worldwide campaign called
SerenityNow/EqualityNow, where groups of Browncoats have/are organising
special screenings of the Serenity movie, with all profits going to Joss
Whedon's favourite charity, EqualityNow. www.cantstoptheserenity.com/
I am in the process of trying to organise a screening in Auckland and there
are some others trying to organise another screening in Wellington.
What we need to know is how many people we would get showing up to such a
screening, so we can give this data to the movie theatre people, and to
possible sponsors who might donate money for the venue hire, the cause etc.
If you would be interested in such a screening on June the 23rd, could you
email me off list please, including where you are. (ie The Cookie Monster,
Auckland)
Also, there is a newly formed Browncoats_nz yahoogroup fan group if people
are keen to join up. Just send an email to
browncoats_nz-subscribe@yahoogroups.com if you are interested.
Please feel free to forward this onto any others who might be interested.

I believe we have most of season 1 and possibly season 2 as well, I'll have
to check. You can borrow them if you want to "view" them :) They are in
digital/computer format though.

Hi all,
Weather isn't looking too nice atm, and Shannon and I have new games we have
bought so we are thinking board games for this afternoon, starting 3pmish.
BYO board games you have/want to share, we have heaps of space for playing
multiple games, if we get heaps of people....

Who could be at the Uni SRC on Wednesday, round 1pm, to represent Kaos, so
we can get re-afiliated? I need 1 person who will stand up, say "Hi, Kaos is
a club that does daft things, and we would like to get re-afiliated", take
about 2 mins... and then there is a yes/no vote, so the more Kaos people we
can get there to vote yes, would be good... I think it's 1pm, but I'll
confirm that tomorrow.
Who would be willing to do the talking thing, as I'll be at work :(
Karen
Hi all,
Not sure if you spotted in my huge calender email, but this Sunday from
3:30pm onwards I'm hosting a Book Swap afternoon at my place. Bring along
any books you are sick of/have no room for/don't want but aren't sure what
to do with... and swap them for some others that might be more appealing.
We have a large pile of books here already, that people can pick over/add
to/borrow...
And there will be afternoon tea.
And last time there was an impromptual discussion about authors, and books
we had liked/disliked etc... so come armed with some names of books you have
read recently.
And then stay for Hot Chocolate + movie... this week we are watching the
pilot for "Dead Like Me", starting at 6:30pm, and then the movie Howls
Moving Castle (the english dubbed version - which I thoroughly recommend)
Karen
(I've been rummaging through the withdrawn books at work and have acumulated
another pile of random hardcovered scifi/fantasy stuff that people can pick
over)
Hi all,
Because it is the end of First Semester, and Zara's birthday, I'm organising
a killing round for all day Friday the 2nd of June (next week).
Killing round will be like that last full day one we did, register with me
in the LCR after 8:30am, you will have 3 lives, all weapons will be paper
swords or blow-up swords etc. No water pistols. If you have a weapon you are
not sure about, please show me or Q beforehand. I'll have my pile of weapons
available for borrowing.
Anyone wearing a Kaos badge or Kaos tshirt will be fair-game... so if you
are planning NOT to be in the killing round, please don't wear your badge in
an obvious place.
If you kill someone, the kill must be registered with me in the LCR asap.
Kill/no-kill areas as described in the Manifesto.
Killing Round will finish at 4:30pm, winner will be announced and rewarded
at the Masqued Party which starts after 7:30pm at the Secret Lair...
Karen
Just a reminder that the (auckland@...) list has turned into the parties and events notice list. And the other one (AucklandKaos@yahoogroups.com) is the discussion list for killing rounds, aftermaths of events and other general stuff. If you are not on one, email me off-list and I'll send you an invite.
Party!!!
The Secret Lair is holding a flatwarming for our 2 new flatmates, Amber and Nick, and a farewell for John who is heading to Aussie to do his PhD.
No theme!
Friday 5th May, 7pm onwards.
All welcome.

p.s. while cleaning up the hall, Cameron found a cd walkman. If it belongs to you, you need to tell me what cd is in it before I'll let you have it back!

which I ordered back in Jan. They are $25 each if anyone wants to buy one.

Some friends of mine put together an art exhibition called "The New Black",
Gothic Art for the
21st Century at the Artstation, 1 Ponsonby Road. I plan to go along on
Thursday (20th), before it finishes, just to have a perve, and if anyone
else wants to come along, please feel free to come along and meet me there
at 1pm and then we could go for hot chocolate/coffee afterwards.
If people are interested, we could go to a couple of other exhibition places
on Ponsonby rd/K-rd and make an afternoon of appreciating art...
Karen
> I lost the email about what's happening with the exhibition. What's the
plan?
The 48 is on a weekend at the start of exam time, so depending on when my exams are I may not be going, but I already have crash space (for me) and if anyone is driving down that would be awesome (and cheap!)
If you can go, you really should. It's awesome and lots of fun.

My 18th is May 2, which is the Tuesday (?) after uni starts again. I was thinking of doing something the following Saturday. It might/might not be a KAOS/America/alcove-only party (not sure yet, but I'll probably invite other friends), and I'm not sure about theme or venue, but I'm open to suggestions.
Also, we should have a Facist/Communist party. They did one in Chch and apparently it went really well.
[Long post, sorry] Yesterday at the picnic we got talking about future parties/events and themes we want to have.
There are a couple of traditional Kaos events that the other groups do, that we could start up here. I'd like peoples feedback on whether people want to do them, and when would be a good time to do them. And I'd like to set a
couple of events as Auckland traditions, so they can happen every year around the same time, so we can advertise them to the wider NZ Kaos folks incase people want to travel here to attend.
Up until now we've been hosting party/gatherings at The Secret Lair every
couple of weeks, and we are still happy to do that. Do we want to keep this habit of something every couple of weeks? And if we do, we need to start working on the rest of the year now. Or do we want to have just one themed
event a month during Uni time, and leave spaces for people to add things each year, so some things are set, and some are purely on a case-by-case basis?
At the bottom of this email is a breakdown of the Uni year using Week
Headings. I've taken these straight out of the Uni AUSA Student Diary. I've then popped in some of the events that people have already stuck a date on, and some suggestions. Please have a look, and then email your
ideas/suggestions to the list. If you have a birthday coming up, and want to have a party, please add that too. We can have Kaos parties at other peoples places apart from The Secret Lair (hint, hint). Also, if you want to have a
birthday party, but have no venue, we could use The Secret Lair to host it... but we need to know you want to have one :)
All this will help us put together a generic calendar for Auckland Kaos for the rest of this year, and for the new Dictator and Politbureau for 2007.
Ideas, thoughts, suggestions....

Hi all,
Another of the Secret Lair's flatmates is moving, so we are looking for
another replacement.
Room is one of the single rooms (the one Cameron is in atm). It's an empty
rectangle room, comes with nothing in it. There is a wardrobe outside in the
hallway which can be part of the room if necessary. Big enough for a double
bed, desk and drawers.
$120 per week which includes power, phone, water, internet. All you pay
extra is for your own food and tollcalls. No bond needed.
Room comes available 23rd/24th of April.
Must be able to cope with Sunday invasions of hot chocolate drinkers,
fortnightly party/drinkies with various costume themes, roleplayers, Kaos
agents, medievalists, goths etc.
Non-smoker, and no illegal substances either, thanks.
Email me off list if you want to come view the room.

There will be a break during Sunday (12 to 3pm) for the Kaos Picnic in the Domain, if the weather allows, so bring picnicy things too. By the duck pond, Auckland Domain, near the big shade trees. We had an Animal Control round-up of loose bunnies yesterday, today we had playboy bunnies taking on Hepher... and we still have the Red Queen vs The White Rabbit, one of Monty Pythons Knights vs the rabbit of D00M, and a couple of Bugs hunts...
If you are still wanting to take part in something, catch up with Q (Monty Python+ one other) or Zara (Red Queen) or Jack/Joon (Bugs) to see if you can help...
or find a buddy and come up with your own stunt.
Zara has a pile of loaner bunny ears...
sadly I wont be in at Uni on Thursday :( so I miss all the fun. Please take pictures and we will put them all together and make a slideshow of the stunts.

Tomorrow is Playbody bunny stunt. 1-2pm, I'm playing the Hephner, we need more
playmates. The stunt does involve pillows, and beating the shit out of me with
pillows.
Meet maybe 12:30 at the Alcove, we'll stay there till 10 past 1, then do the
stunt.
So, anyone who want to come, bring pillows/cushions, bunny ears if you have any,
