http://iranistan.blogspot.com/2009/10/following-are-some-of-6mm-ancients.html I
use 8 figures across for FoG heavy inf, 6 across for medium and four across for
light. Most are in two ranks, though some Baccus figures could have three ranks
per base. Rapier miniatures are the same size as Baccus. The pike units are
based in a mixture of equal numbers of 20x40, 40x16 and 40x24 so that they can
be used with both rule sets. Combining one of each makes a three stand unit for
Warmaster. For FoG I put the 20x40 in the front and two each of the others for
an eight stand unit. I have found the Rapier pike to be less "bendy" than the
Baccus pike.

SoS,

Thanks for the link. I'll definitely be buying some. I assume all the
models on that page are H&R?

The cost of getting a sprue of plastic say Panzer IV would be the same as buying
a plastic 1/72 kit
which would be the same as buying 17 metal from Scotia and Navwar. even Infantry
is in the same boat
but aircraft boxes as in A Luftwaffe ground attack box with say stukas and HS
129 etc or bomber box with 6 or 8 or 12 Lancs or B17s that is where maybe you
should be heading for, or mass landing craft.
But those who are doing air war or Amphibious landings are few and far between
and are probably on that track with resin and metal anyhow.
so i think that leave it for 28mm (where the price does count) and 20mm

cheers Karcuss

Why would you want 6mm Tanks in plastic when there are so many great (and
relatively inexpensive) metal ones?

They actually look better! It works rather well. Sometimes I've used
1-1/2 bases across or someother arrangement to differentiate between
types of troops.

Hi
i am looking into basing up baccus ancients for warmaster and FoG rules. How
have you gone about this? I am thinking that 6 baccus strips (in 3 ranks) per
40mm x 20mm base would make the base look good and full: comparative to the 10m
pics of bases in the WA rule book.

Hi James, maybe Mark was referring to the following site: always excellent
information on mixing/matching ranges to produce various armies:

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/vendheaume.fighters/hrosmenu.html

Scroll down the page for photos and suggestions for look-alike troops.
Hope this helps, regards, SteelonSand.

James,
In the Heroics and Ros I use the Franco Prussian NCF1 for French Foreign Legion.
I got that from a site by a gentleman who had used different 6mm Heroics and Ros
for a lot of different wars. His name or user name was something like Leor
Kweller and I believe he used to have a website but I could not find it in my
bookmarked items so maybe it is no longer around. Good Luck!

Hello Doug,

EE Canberra in 1-300 you have a choice of the following:

Martin B 57 (Canberra)
Scotia
CAUM12 - £2.00
Skyraider
US109 - £1.40

English Electric Canberra
Scotia
CABM4 - £2.00
Navwar
UKMA406 - £1.50
Skytrex
P780 - £4.00
SDD Fox Two
FT55 - £1.50

I agree that a Raiden example of the Canberra would be excellent based on their
other type I have.

I have compiled an Excel sheet with all the 1-300 modern aircraft I could find
(including their websites). It's in the files here:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/6mm_Miniatures/files/Aircraft%20Availability\
%20in%206mm/

A WW2 aircraft sheet is in there as well although I need to update it with
Falcon miniatures now I have found where their site is.

Cheers,
Graeme in Aus (Melbourne)

I am looking to start a couple of projects and wanted to see if anyone had any
that they no longer want before I go the retail route. In Baccus I am looking
for AWI, British Colonial, Zulu, American Civil War, and maybe others. Then also
in Heroics and Ros I would consider SYW to create AWI forces from, British
Colonial, Zulu, American Civil War and maybe others. I prefer unpainted figures
since I am going to paint them up I want them to match but if cheap enough I
will consider painted figures.

Good observation PZ 8. If Baccus ever gets into the modern period they could

control the market.

Rather then new models (ranges are already extensive)
I would like that current models improve to current wargaming standards. I feel
that H&R, Scotia, Skytrex, Irregular are still using the moulds of 20 yrs ago.
On the opposite, Baccus makes new moulds year after year, improving poses,
details etc. I would like to see this policy (ethics?) from all 1/300
manufacturers.

I don't think the HEroics & Ros/Navwar range has grown very much either in
recent years on the moderns side.

As Doug says, CinC makes lovely models. Unfortunately, their range hasn't grown
in many years; so, if you want anything new, you have to go to GHQ and Armstrong
for vehicles.

Along with GHQ and Raiden, don't forget to check the new line of MSD aircraft
models. They're well done, quite sturdy (unlike CinC), and very imaginative.

1/285 may have been an official army recognition scale in the US ? CinC (
http://www.pfc- cinc.com/ ) also do 1/285 and are lovely castings, very clean,
no flash, good lines, correct shaping and plenty of detail, not quite as much as
GHQ but quite a bit cheaper and mix pretty well in most cases. I have picked up
a lot of CinC from the net, and been very very happy with my purchases. Their
aircraft are also very nice, but require a bit of assembly, and aren't really
suitable for the 'modelling challenged' among us, but end up very nice indeed.

On that note a plaudit to Raiden miniatures, ( http://www.raidenmi niatures.
co.uk/ ) who produce very nice castings of 1/300 aircraft for WWII and Modern.
They work out very cheaply with most aircraft at 1 -1.50 GBP and are lovely
clean castings that capture the original lines really well. If you go to the
site, take a look at the workbench photos and get excited! I recently ordered a
dozen of various types and was very very pleased with price, quality and speed
of delivery to Oz. One advantage (IMHO) is that their planes are cast pretty
much as one piece castings, so the only fiddly bits are weapons pods and the
like.

Disclaimer.. I have nothing to do with these manufactureres except as a
customer!

Chris and myself have just about recovered from a very hectic few days around
the Crisis show in Antwerp. The Tin Soldiers of Antwerp members were excellent
hosts and outstanding and tireless organisers. Thanks from both of us for a
great few days. Following the show, if Geert Bulens (or someone who knows him)
is reading this can I please ask him to email me.

We've only two more shows to do this year and the next one is coming up fast as
we prepare for the Warfare show in Reading on November 21st and 22nd. A number
of you have already placed preorders for collection there, but there is still
plenty of time for others to do the same.

I am hoping to have some new items for sale at Warfare, as we add the finishing
bits and pieces to the Colonial Sudan range. The Mahdist riflemen and Egyptian
infantry should be available there and if we get things right you should get a
sneak preview of our resculpted Ancient Hittite and Syrian figures.

As usual, if you've any questions or requests feel free to contact me. There is
normally a good chance of an informative answer.

I am also in Australia, I have bought figures from Navwar for years now. The
ordering by mail bothers me at times ( getting old), but never had any problems.
I have a two week turn around from posting order to receiving figures, which is
not much longer than emailed orders to some suppliers, and in some cases
substantially quicker.

world" delivery costs 28 pounts (to UK and US only 1 or 2 punds.
So my question is: are therea re any MAJIC Miniatures distributor with not so
high price?

If you photo copy the order sheet for as many as you think you need
and do it by hand with a calculator, and do a big order then send off to the U.K

then see how quick they are, very few mistakes in order, and see if they
remember you next time you order from them, F%#2 this e-mail order stuff (all
the time), we are people and navwar are people

i have never had a problem with Navwar or with H&R before that

cheers Karcuss

NavWar seems to respond promptly. A snail-mail order to NavWar seems to get
delivered in about half (or maybe one-third) the time of an e-mail order to
Scotia.

You can snail-mail too.... print the order off their website and airmail it to
them. I know it's bizarre, but that's how they choose to do it.
