Of the thousands of games at chessvariants.org, only a handful use the
idea of "Gravity" in the game. And they are all 2D, to the best of my
knowledge. How would you implement this idea in 3D? It seems the devil
would be in the details. If you want the piece to "drop down" a cell
after movement, this would make a gravity game an Alice relative of
some sort, no?

It seems that most 3-D chess games are also weightless chess games. Pieces (except for pawns) move up and down with equal ease, the same as they do forward...
